The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Idiots will mange to accomplish damage with almost any technology. If
your night operator had bothered to read the help text for STG(*FREE)
he/she/it would have known how it worked. What part of "data
portion ... is freed" is unclear?
At least the restore to recover the objects saved with STG(*FEE) would
have been less painful than if the object headers had also been deleted.
The value of STG(*FREE) is in building a hierarchical storage
solution. For example, frequently accessed objects in main storage
(via SETOBJACC), often used objects on DASD as usual, infrequently
used objects stored off-line but accessible via the Storage Extension
Exit Point (i.e., automatically restored when a request to access is
received).

Simon Coulter.
