Alan,

If I understood the OP correctly, he just wants to eliminate blanks
from the string. In that case, a simple REPLACE(string, ' ', '') would
do the trick (a single space for the second parameter, none for the
third).

Do you know if in SQL on AS400 are some bult-in function which can
change some character to another - like dash "-" to space " ", and other
which can delete all space from text - so it will change "TOMASZ SKORZA"
to "TOMASZSKORZA"?
