Awww why don't I just go ahead and do it! The refactoring *might* affect the applet, but I can't say for sure. The documentation still refers to Java 1.4 but it has been compiled and tested at Java 6. You will find them here:

I am not sure why the latest build isn't available as a download but there is no reason that you couldn't just build from trunk. I could build one and post it if that would be helpful.
