But that is the joy if DNS. You don't have to have the same IP address.
All the users and any external machines should be using a DNS name to
contact your machine. Then you just change the associated IP address in
the DNS server, wait for it to propogate, have the users run the DNS cache
flush on their PC's because Windoze is a pain in the arse, and that is
about it. Now, our HA software doesn't talk via DNS name, which is a
crying shame in this day and age, just by IP address, but that is the only
thing I'm aware of. So rolling from one machine to the other is fairly
easy in that regard.

Because all your configurations would be wrong. Think: Do you have the
same IP address on two different i's at your shop? That's just a small
part of it.

I actually created GDISYS2 from a full restore of GDISYS1 and then
modified various parts to make the new machine. It's a little trickier
than it sounds. Been there, done that.
