It seems the power cables that came with the new box are the kind that
would plug into our failover switch, rather than the kind that plugs
into the wall or a UPS. And with dual redundant power supplies, it's the
one box we have that would gain little or no benefit from being plugged
into a failover switch.
On another note, while plugging in the second power supply silenced the
system operator message warning that we only had one supply connected,
we still had, at least with the box powered down, a yellow front-panel
light showing. Any ideas on what it could be?
