Sounds like a good plan for the 99% of them out there. And if I didn't
frequently have test ptf's then I'd probably follow that also.
Like you said, if your the person doing the ptf applies, etc and you don't
know if you have any test ptfs on there then you probably don't. They do
NOT put them on cumes, groups, etc. In fact, to do a SNDPTFORD they will
only temporarily open the ptf and further restrict it to your serial
number only. You only get x hours to download a test ptf and it has to be
from that serial number. (Which means pretty much any lpar on that box
though.)
