Larry,
The newer SAS drives are great and they are cheaper. The old SCSI
drives will be slowly removed from the market place as IBM isn't going to be
selling them. Just remember, you can't pull a SCSI drive out of a slot and
put in a SAS drive. You need a newer disk tower/draw to run them. The disk
controllers that control the SAS drives are also quicker than the SCSI
drives.
If I was buying drives now, I would ONLY buy SAS drives. Also
remember that the SFF (Small Form Factor) SAS drives are only 10K RPM, so
you will want to stay away from them (my opinion) and stay with the regular
SAS drives which run at 15K RPM.

Hello group. Does anyone have any thoughts on the newer SAS drives as
opposed to the older SCSI drives. I just upgraded to 5.4 and unless I'm
missing something, the SAS drives are much cheaper and faster. Is this a no
brainer to go with the SAS drives?
Thanks, Larry
