Sorry I didn't reply to this sooner, I've been offline for a
couple of weeks.
From a "normal operating" perspective, 1 large versus multiple
small had no performace impact that I've been able to measure
when there are enough physical disks available to spread the
workload across.
However, save/restore is greatly impacted when there are fewer
than 6 virtual disks. In my measurements, less than 6 v-disks
results in save/restore opertions take 2x more time than with 6
virtual disks.
