Our last upgrade was 4 years ago. An 820 to a 520 both at V5R1. The
820 was a P30 and the 520 is a P10. Kept the same serial number. I
found that a new 3 year maintenance contract with monthly payments was
only 100 bucks a month less than the 3 year lease with FMV buyout.
(The buyout can to about 15 grand at the end of the 3 years.) This
system has unlimited interactive and both 1 5095 and 1 5094 tower
attached. Our current maintenance is now GREATER than what our lease
payment was. So look into the upgrade cause it does not cost that much
more than the maintenance will cost and you get much more bang for your
buck.

Best bet would be a new machine - this thing is awfully old! :)

Getting IBM maintenance on the new machine would be a lot cheaper,
plus you'll have more performance and most likely less issues due to
old age.
