The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
It is bizarre that you can do that. I learned on the IBM midrange, so it
seemed "normal" for me until I moved over to SQL Server, now it seems
odd that you can have a system that doesn't have ACID. However... there
are times I miss the ability to do updates w/out the ACID promises. ACID
isn't free, you pay a (heavy) performance cost for all the loging and
locking that has to occur. There are times that "rollback" isn't the
correct recovery process, as the process may have other (faster)
recovery options (clear/restore/restart). Basically you can chalk it up
to "sure, the i _can_ guarantee ACID, like any other DB, but it doesn't
_have_ to... it gives you choice."
