Apparently those fine folks at IBM have moved/renamed/deleted a
URL I use often.

The former URL for "Support for Ascii Printers" now points to

http://www-947.ibm.com/systems/support/#_Section1

which is NOT where I wanted to go.

Does anybody have the current location that of that site ?

I wonder if it might not be better to offer the original URL, rather than where that saved URL redirects.?

FWiW the www-### AFaIK are redirects, which are better maintained as an original rather than resolved name; e.g. the above URL can drop the "-947", and its use will effect automatic redirection to the other URL.

The following [manufacturer related] documents claim to have been titled with the referenced text [as its prefix] which describes the original URL:
http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas14b2576f82af70d80862569c1007a491d
http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=nas1ff266bd6d687f4b4862569c1007a76a2

From a web search on the given text:
http://www.as400pro.com/tipView.php?cat=Printing&key=745
which gives the following link to IBM KB Document Number 17690939:
http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.NSF/1ac66549a21402188625680b0002037e/b44a2cf4ba778d83862568250053649f?OpenDocument&Highlight=0,17690939
