All the new files (tables) I've defined for the past several years have been
DDL (SQL).

If your select / omit logicals are "read only" that can be accomplished in a
view.

Depending on how a view is defined, it can be update-able. Does i5/OS
support update-able views (curious, I don't know). Otherwise, I think you'll
have to code select / omit criteria as part of any update.

I created LF8 following the advice from SYSIXADV. The performance on the
SQL request in question is greatly enhanced. However, if I understand
correctly, SQE would not use LF8 if I used SELECT as in the other LF.

Should we still be using select/omit in logical files?
