We're not compressing the job tables-- although after displaying
them and seeing that most of them were not heavily used I toyed with
the idea.
But I've basically decided that our best option is to clear out a lot
of spooled files before we begin (we keep a rolling week of joblogs
on-line).
After installing microcode and OS/400, the system wakes up on the "A"
side; this IPL is ABNORMAL-- the instructions say to ignore the
message. And the system will check the job tables. Apparently this
is a standard feature of the install.
I have loaded multiple PTFs at once-- while IPLd from the "B" side.
Although the "A" side will allow installing multiple PTF batches,
there is a warning screen that appears to warn that due to
interdependencies some PTFs may not apply, and might have to be
applied later (once IPLd from the "B" side).
And someone else mentioned that the latest disk is 545-F... I think
we're at 545-E--- from only a month or so ago. *sigh* One last
round of PTFs, I suppose.
And we are using Image Catalogs. Especially good with those 9-CD
Cumes, and the even larger packs of PTF groups sets.
