I was just reading an article in a magazine on how NOT to make yourself a
commodity. Along with increasing your knowledge (like Notes), making
yourself known (like here's an overview of the product, and a sample
agent) is a way to communicate your knowledge has tangible benefits.

I always say try for your project. They might just not put you at the
bottom. They may have something like this already on their agenda. It
amazes me how many people assume their boss won't approve a project.

We're so tight right now if you rub a penny they want to vacuum the copper
dust off of your finger but if I asked the boss for an expenditure so that
I could save him x # of $ and increase revenue I'd get attention.
