Some newsletters have a fairly weak subscribe policy ... where you just have to submit your email address to be subscribed.
Although midrange.com's subscription process is much more complex, it's also much more secure ... you have to CONFIRM that you requested a subscription before the subscription is completed. This is called "Closed Loop Confirmation".

Personally, I think ALL newsletters should have the same policy in place.
