Chris,

I think there's another option in between a periodic save and transmit
of the journal receivers and a full fledged HA system....

You could set up remote journalling to send the journal entries to
your 170, same as you would do for some of the HA systems. But
instead of being applied to the remote system like a HA system would,
the journal entries just sit there.

In a DR, you'd restore from backups. Save the journals off the 170
and then restore and apply them to the primary machine.

Of course, in case the fire or such...where would you keep the 170?

Does anyone know of any good software package for automating iSeries
Journals?  We are looking to start journaling our database for recovery
purposes.  Should we lose our system due to a fire or some other natural
disaster, restoring from yesterday's backup would cause too much data
lose.   We would like to have an automated solution to save the journal
receivers off the system, perhaps to one of our old dormant 170's or a
remote FTP server.

My first Google attempt did not return any packages that automate the
process.  What is out there?
