Look at any of the High Availability or HA vendors.
Jeff Crosby does a CHGJRN on the hour and ftp's the journal receiver off
to some PC server somewhere. So the most he'll lose is an hours worth of
data.
There's a couple of different idea's. The first one is some serious money
but is somewhat instantaneous. And we switch over to our HA machine 6
times a year, and run on it for a weekend. Lots of tools to ensure that
the right stuff is journaled.
For instance, do you want your spool files copied over to your HA machine?
User profiles?, etc
We use Mimix HA Lite but there's a plethora of them out there. With some,
if you buy a new system to use as your HA system along with the HA package
you'll get a significant discount on the new machine.
