I'd already found that article.

But I wasn't looking at the green screen interface, so I didn't see
where it offered selection based on spool file name. However, looking
at the code, each entry in the list in returned by the API is compared
to the spool file name parameter....

So I guess that does answer my question....it is not possible to
filter on spool file name inside the API.
