Your reference compared a March 2009 XEON server to a Power server that came out about 2 years ago.

It was the latest benchmark using the i on that list. Yeah, it's not
perfect, but it shows the trend. Especially if you compare the cost of
these two systems. Intel is definitively faster in releasing new CPUs
- for example, in 2010 a 32nm process refresh of the current Xeons
5500 will be available - using less power, bringing more clockspeed

And IBM just announced a 5Ghz Power server at the COMMON opening session, although no
benchmarks are yet available.

Yes, and they don't consider cost. Which is important in the real
world. Just compare a 20k Xeon based machine with a 20k POWER based
machine.
