Since you wrote the redbook on Java for the iSeries, could you tell me
how to speed it up to the levels that it runs on Windows ?

Have you seen performance comparisons between the new 5500 Xeon series
by Intel and IBM's POWER 6 CPUs? And the power usage data?

IBM is still on a 65nm process for the POWER 6. Intel is currently on
45nm, and already shipping fully working 32nm samples, hoping to
launch the first 32nm products in Q4. This is bad news for POWER 6
power efficiency.

And now compare the price you need to pay for a 2 socket, 8 core Xeon
5500 machine with the price you need to pay for a comparable POWER 6
machine. The results won't be pretty. And if you start adding license
cost, which is per socket in the Windows world and per Core in the i
world, you'll see why it's a much better idea to run Java on Windows
or Linux.
