In my opinion there's probably not a very good C / RPG equivalent for
each function.

Personally I don't mind using PASE based commands as you can capture the
output from them and they works fairly well with the "i".

I would vote for spending the time getting more comfortable with
QHELL/PASE over re-writing an application that already works fine as-is.

Of course if the wheel wasn't reinvented once in a while where would we
be :-)

subject: Native sFTP?

I have been using sFTP under PASE for a bit now. Work great! THANKS
SCOTT for
your articles and patience!!

I saw the source a year or so ago. All in C. The C compiler is not
installed
at work and likely won't be. So, this is just curiousity in action.

Is there anything potentially going on that would make it difficult to
translate
into RPG IV? I am just wondering if there is something about how sFTP
functions
that makes it impracticable to run as a native application.

At one time, I toyed with the idea of attempting to translate the code
to RPG
IV. Never really got started on it, so have no idea if the translated
code
would have even worked. My efforts, had I attempted it, would have
likely been
a hand translation. Lots of code involved. Might be possible to write
an RPG
IV program that could do the translation. But, again, the question
comes back
to whether the resulting application would actually work.
