It's sounding like you are getting enough equipment that a rack is
sounding more and more feasible. Are the UPS's rack mountable also?

Genuine IBM racks were pretty plentiful after the dot.com bust some years
back. We've got one we picked up pretty cheap that's sitting out on the
office floor with no equipment in it but a thick layer of dust. With
people moving from standalone rack mounted servers to blades we're seeing
a lot of rack space freeing up also. Add in virtualization and that's
REALLY freeing up the servers.

Getting a second ups is a good idea. Since you'll have redundant power
supplies. I'm getting redundant ups' at our offsite location, but not at
our primary location. Well, basically we had the equipment and that's
easier to cost with tough times.
