We have a special library that transfers new objects in nightly. We also
move to a special TEMP library that gets cleared when something moves in.

You can rename a program or service program and the system will continue to
look at the old copy until they sign off and back on. The big hassle is
display files since they have a lock on them. For certain programs the only
way to get in is to have two different display files and switch each time
you compile. We are 24/7 so no real time to bring down and back up. At
previous company, we had a window of time daily but not here.

Just a curiosity question,

What is your practice for maintenance of existing programs?
Is there a set time each week that users know the system will be down for
maintenance?
Or can maintenance be done at any time?

Thanks for your response.
