Vern,

Would you mind going back to before the beginning of this thread, for people like me whose only use of ftp is a put and a get once a year via start run cmd?

I think you're saying I could install filezilla and use that to transfer files to and from our i5? If I knew where to start, I'd certainly use ftp more often. I have a little experience with filezilla, but only for dragging and dropping files between my home PC and my personal internet site.

Thanks

Sure, you could set the server to path naming. I just get used to having to accommodate machines where that has not been done, so changing NAMEFMT is always going to work.

Yeah, that is cool, too. But right now I need to get at SAVFs, so I
need to be in my CURLIB. So the NAMEFMT thing really helps me at the moment.

I always seem to forget the CD thing, esp. when using the Windows
client. But I sometimes avoid it because it is so i-specific.

Vern,

I went into Site Manager and created one for one of my lpars.
Instead of your suggestion I just changed my "Default remote
directory" in the advanced tab for that site. Now when I connect I
get
Status: Connected
Status: Retrieving directory listing...
Command: CWD /HOME/ROB/
Response: 250-NAMEFMT set to 1.
Response: 250 "/HOME/ROB" is current directory.
