try this:
1 - end the printer session from the PC
2 - if printer still varied ON - end the writer: WRKWTR and take option 4
3 - vary OFF the printer
4 - start the session again

5250 session, lower left corner, flashing A
Sometimes when we open a printer session for the PC-attached printer we
get a Flashing A in the OIA area. We end up having to reboot the PC in
order to make the session actually connect.
Obviously we are doing something wrong but so far we haven't figured
what is happening or what has occurred and its beginning to annoy us. I
tried varying off the printer but it wouldn't let me do that as it says
it is active.
