When you create your logical, you can make your own record format name
and add all or some of the fields manually.

In the DDS you specify the record format name on the same line as the
PFILE() .

So its like:

R JOBREC PFILE(JOBMAST)

Then list each field on a separate line
JOBN
JOBU

Etc.

How might I deal with a physical file with a record Format name of
"S.JOBMAST" (A QS36F file)

I have never seen a record format with a punctuation mark in it. I am
attempting to create a logical over this file and it is not allowing me
to use the format name as-is. Any ideas?
