Adam,

I was testing this to a TRU64 unix server, so the MGET and MPUT had a problem. May have just been me ftp'ing from the i to the ES45 Alpha. Anyways,
somebody previously said that MPUT and MGET do work on the i, and I did successfully run it to another unix server this morning. You're right on the
Massive GET versus Multiple GET. Just wagged it versus looking it up. Sometimes you get your acronyms right, and other times you look like a fool.
:)

If you really have questions concerning FTP on the i. See:

http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/redbooks/pdfs/sg246551.pdf chapter 7. I am reading there about the PROMPT command.

Good luck,

I know that you can MGET several files at the same time by turning the PROMPT'ing feature off by using the word PROMPT during and FTP session. I
just
tested this and it doesn't look like it's possible to do within the i.

The PROMPT command doesn't seem to be supported by the i FTP client. To
which FTP client are you referring?

As for MGET, it _is_ supported by the i FTP client (at least at V5R4).
The syntax is
MGet { remotefile [remotefile...]}[(REPLACE]

Jerry mentioned this in his post, but I think it's worth repeating since
this is a common misunderstanding (which I've only recently realized
myself). MGET is not part of the FTP protocol. MGET is a utility
provided by most FTP clients builds a list of files to be retrieved,
then does a GET for each of them.

Massive GET

I think it's supposed to be Multiple GET, but I like yours better :)
