Writing to the IFS, as Rob said, means only that - it does not say who 
is doing it. Or which system is doing it.

RPG does not have native ways to write to the stream-file part of the 
IFS, so you use APIs, as Scott shows. Windows does have the ability to 
save files to the non-library portion of the IFS but it has to use 
"APIs" like ODBC and such to write to the library portion, namely, 
database files.

I thought that was an interesting symmetry - I'm sure it is not 
helpful!  ;-)
