The QU2 is a version of IBI's Webfocus. Of course it is browser based and will allow for output to the usual display, printer and file but will also allow for output to PDF, WORD & Excel.

I was part of the Beta team & prior to that a Webfocus developer so was able to do some "unsupported" things with the product. Some things you supported things you can do is have the query be parameter driven, use drill down and migrate the existing queries. With added features you could also use non-as400 in query reports.

Note that the query code will reside in the IFS so you cannot use RUNQRY on the QU2 queries therefore not run them in IBM's scheduler. If you want to schedule the jobs you have to but an added feature from IBI (Information Builders).

I have a developer that is asking about the newer DB2 Web
Query licensed
product. From the little bit I have researched it looks
like we would
be entitled to the base license of 5733-QU2 DB2 Web Query
for i, since
we already have 5722QU1 (IBM Query for iSeries) and we are
current with
our maintenance. Is this correct?

What does the base 5733-QU2 (DB2 Web Query) get us compared
to the
existing 5722-QU1 Query? Also, it looks like there are
additional
features available for a fee. What does each of the
features enable?
Anything that will help us understand the DB2 Web Query
product is
greatly appreciated.

We are also asking our IBM BP for an overview of the costs
and features,
but I was hoping to get a quick and simple understanding
ASAP for our
developer. Any opinions from those with experience using
the product
would also be appreciated.

TIA,
Glenn Birnbaum
