The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.

As you probably know full well:
Can YOU use CRTDDMF files with SQL?
No.
Can you use DRDA from F specs in RPG or by whatever COBOL uses?
No.
Although both DDM and DRDA use the same transport mechanism they are
for different purposes. DDM is for record-level access and DRDA is
for SQL access. If I recall correctly the major practical difference
is where the request is processed. DDM tends to be processed on the
source system and will fetch all records then decide whether it fits
the request (e.g., HLL partial key read operation) whereas DRDA sends
the initial request to the target and gets the target to return only
those records that fit the result set,
I believe OPNQRYF, when used with DDM, also gets the target to do the
work of record selection but it's been too long now and I'm starting
to forget the details of less used areas of the system.
There are various optimisations in DDM to avoid unnecessary I/O but
as I recall it can still fetch data the requesting program
Since DDM existed before DRDA you could say that DRDA is built on top
of DDM technology.

Simon Coulter.
