I understand Steve's last paragraph. Coworkers here liked WRKDBF and when
that was temporarily out of commission then we switched to DBU. However I
pretty much stick with STRSQL and UPDDTA also. Now, STRSQL doesn't 'come'
with the system unless you purchase 5761ST1 which is the SQL development
kit.
There is a free GUI tool that does all that STRSQL does. It also has a
GUI interface into UPDDTA. It's called iNav or System i Navigator. This
part of System i Access for Windows is free. Other parts (like data
transfer and the 5250 emulator) are priced as a package deal.

DBU does give a nice match up between the data and it's associated journal
receiver.

I looked at some ROBOT products, like their competitor to DBU. It seemed
like generic beer on a champagne budget.

I'll give them this though, they DO know marketing.
