This reminds me of the "captcha" discussion we had on web400-l a while ago; generating random strings of a certain length.
To generate a random string, one idea is to first determine your alphabet. In English, that might be 26 uppercase characters + 26 lowercase letters + 10 digits, for example. That's 62 characters total.
Then write a random number function that can return a number between 1 and 62. Then:
clear random.string;
for i = 1 to 99;
i = ranNumber(1:%len(alphabet));
random.string = random.string + %subst(alphabet:i:1);
endfor;
