Gawd, I hope so.

I saw some preliminary demos of it at Rational in Boston in October when
I and several others representing COMMON were there for the GSE
Management Advisory Council meeting. This is all built around Rational's
open source Jazz product. It looks very interesting. I asked Rational to
submit a session proposal. I also asked COMMON Education to try to
include the session. As "Rational Team Concert for i" is very
"i-oriented", I think Rational would be presenting it at COMMON anyway.
But it never hurts to ask as sometimes the most obvious things don't
occur even to very smart people.

The Rational folks in Boston were very interested to hear what we had to
say about development styles being used on i. I think you can expect
this to be a very useful tool for certain kinds of development.

Boss was reading this story at
http://www.itjungle.com/fhs/fhs120208-story01.html
about IBM unveiling "Rational Team Concert for i". He was wondering if
we

should replace our existing change management for this. Having JUST
replaced our existing change management software once I am not overly
anxious. (Slapping my hand to not go off on a tangent.)
Pros: Probably a tool that is 100% based around RDi. This may help
beat
the remaining SEU dinosaurs into RDi. Also, I am finding out that tools

that straddle the fence are often more robust in 5250 land and
developers
that do use RDi often start using SEU just to not alternate between 5250

and RDi.

Do any of you have enough familiarity with the product to begin forming
an

opinion?
