Regarding ISVs being cross-platform, they're following IBM's lead. That's a bit of a frustration to me because my focus is developing new ILE based web applications.

ISVs and in-house developers have been jerked around by IBM. Their applications added a lot of value to the platform over many years, which IBM milked through things like heavy-handed "interactive" pricing, and used the money to fund Java, instead of native GUI solutions or viable migration strategies for partners. Then IBM added insult to injury by published things like their infamous "flippin burgers" commercial. Then IBM confused everyone through a prolonged series of rebranding moves. The platform took a real hit.

Fortunately IBM returned to its roots, putting more effort into rebuilding ISV relationships, extending native languages, fixing the pricing problem, and coming up with a consolidated branding solution that looks promising. I look forward to a turnaround.
