Steve,

When I said "crying does not help", it was not an invitation to cry.

You are making a lot of assumptions, and the one that is the worst is "IBM
does not want to invest in IBM i". Is that a truth, or simply your opinion?

Don,

COMMON will likely morph towards a Power Systems emphasis, including IBM i
and AIX. Just because there are new AIX sessions does not mean this is a
move AWAY from IBM i. It simply means COMMON will get bigger to accommodate
the ~new~ AIX world added to the IBM i that we know.

We already know you are personally affected by having your iWorld fall down
around you. Does that mean we will always get doom and gloom from you for
the rest of us who remain strongly i? Regardless of what IBM does, you could
still promote IBM I with a more positive approach?

Crying does not help. Saying "I told you so" when you told us something else
does not help. Doom and gloom does not help.

judging by the consistently dropping i sales, the over boosting of the
system and driving away of heretics does not help either. I dont
think it matters what is said on public forums. It takes a lot of
work to program an app on IBM i. SQL procedures dont work well with
CL, RPG cant share code with PHP, Java does not interop well with the
OS ( unlike .NET , where MSFT spends billions on getting C# and VB to
work with unmanaged and dynamically typed code ). IBM does not want to
invest in IBM i. And it will not open source the system, preventing
others from making the improvements. Maybe IBM i can apply for TARP
handout money?
