I wanted to order V6R1 last week (which would have included the RDI
stuff, at a cost), but the BP convinced me to wait because there was to
be an IBM announcement concerning RDI on 10/28.
I have not seen the announcement myself (the BP cannot even find it),
but you can now *upgrade* from WDSC to RDI at a 40% discount. Instead
of $795 it's $477.
Since I wanted RDI-SOA for future reasons, I asked for the informal
quote using RDI-SOA. Guess what. There's no discount for RDI-SOA, it's
still $1995. This is what the BP rep was told when he called in to the
mothership about RDI pricing.
So let me get this right. We can *upgrade* from WDSC to RDI, but not
from WDSC to RDI-SOA. With IBM pushing EGL, that doesn't make sense to
me. A 40% discount of $1995 would be $1197. So do the IBM marketing
folks want us to use EGL or not? Am I not understanding something
correctly?
The BP rep is going to issue the formal quote through the system and
that might tell us more.
This is a heads up for the price reduction to RDI.
