Simply using any aspect of Microsoft is outside my comfort zone but for
different reasons to network protocols. I use MS software as little as I
can but, if I buy a new laptop which has Vista on it, because of the time
that would be needed to install something else, I feel obliged to give it a
try before I decide to do that.

Are you using Vista? I find that Vista locks up for no obvious reason quite
frequently and you just have to wait and wait and wait.

This won't help in the slightest, but, IMO, they're outside
Microsoft's comfort zone, too. I get that feeling every time I drag
something to another directory and accidentally happen to let the
mouse-pointer cross over the name of some remote directory, and then
I sit and wait for however long it takes before the pointer unfreezes.

Sorry for the near hi-jack of your thread, but that just happened
while your note was open here and I couldn't resist.
