Dave - you want the SQL Reference - maybe google on "encrypt_tdes sql iseries site:ibm.com" - someone else responded with the specifics - but there is a minimum OS release to get these.

As to CIPHER, let's see - you can go to infocenter, open up Programming, then APIs, then look for MI or Machine Interface. But it looks like it is not obvious that this is usable, and it is not for the faint of heart.

I see there is an API from V5R2 onward - Qc3EncryptData - there is an OPM version that should be callable from REXX.
