You're right, Rob. CCSID isn't in the job description. But a job
definitely has a CCSID. You see that in DSPJOB, job definition
attributes. And I'm pretty sure there are ways to have jobs on the same
system with different CCSID's. I'll have to figure that out. May be in
the routing entry. I'll check.

Where do you see CCSID on a job description? Sounds logical, but I
can't find it.

Check the CCSID on the job descriptions being used on the various boxes.
My guess it that the one that is failing has the CCSID 65535 on the job
description and the others have 37 or some other EBCDIC CCSID. It is the
CCSID of the job that influences translation. The CCSID in system values
can influence the CCSID of the job, but is not the only determinant.

I am trying to convert a flat file from the IFS into a database file so
I can import it into other databases.

===> CPYFRMIMPF FROMSTMF(input.txt) TOFILE(QTEMP/INPUT) MBROPT(

*REPLACE) RCDDLM(*ALL) STRDLM(*NONE) RMVBLANK(*NONE)

Where QTEMP/INPUT was simply CRTPF QTEMP/INPUT RCDLEN(220)

Now this works fine on 3 out of 4 systems.

One is V5R2, V5R3, V5R4.

The one it won't work on is V5R3.

I checked the CCSID system value, they are all set to 65535.

The translation from ascii to ebcdic does not occur on the one box.
Why?
