How do we know that it is back? I only saw the post that said how many
lines & worth, is this an increase of how many lines and since when?

At least according to a recent article in Dr Dobbs Journal, The article says
there are 240 billion lines of COBOL code running today with a value of $2
trillion. Has anyone ever seen an analysis of the lines of RPG code running
