that's the S36 spool ID correct? the system doesn't really go by that ID
but rather it uses the Job info + spooled file number for "cataloging"
unique spooled file IDs. not entirely sure about the "true" S36 days but
i venture a guess that the process was similar even back then.

Spool File Numbering Question
Spool file id's keep incrementing as long as there is still an entry
sitting on an out queue somewhere. But, if there are no pending entries
in any out queue, the next spool file entry id is SP0000.
I was just curious if, in the case where unprocessed spool file entries
remain, the System i could ever run out of id's. And, if it could, what
would happen. I know some of you guys (and gals) print high volumes of
spool file entries, such as for barcode readers.
Just curious.
