We've been using them, and they work perfectly.

Do you really need SCS/IPDS? Is HPT not an option - can go graphical
with AFPDS too? What about using a software converter like
ExcelliPrint (works fine, but you might need to use software fonts,
which can open a can of worms)?

Printing on the i sucks big time, anyway. More so than on any other
platform i've seen so far. And printing's always been bad on every
platform.
