How did you create the file in QTEMP. Perhaps a CRTPF RCDLEN(123).
If so try to use a SQL CREATE TABLE
CREATE TABLE QTEMP/TEMP (TEMP CHAR ( 123) FOR MIXED DATA)

Albert,
Does you spooled file actually contain Double Byte
characters?

If it does not actually contain Double Byte characters you
can ignore the message using the appropriate MONMSG .

Be aware that the spool data will be shifted to the right 1
position.

Subject: Unable to CPYSPLF

I am trying to copy a spool file to a flat file that I
created in QTEMP but I get the message: must be a
double-byte character set (DBCS) file.

Is there a way to get around this or to create a double-byte
character set file in QTEMP?

I have been using CPYSPLF for years but this is the first
time I have encountered this.

Thanks,

ALbert
