I thought vendor posts were against list guidelines?

Vendor posts themselves are not against the guidelines ... but only if the vendors product would directly address a question or provide a solution to a problem. In a thread about software change control, it would be appropriate for me to chime in on MKS's products. For XML processing discussion, I would expect Aaron B to mention his product.

Unsolicited, or unrelated, product mentions are not allowed. In all cases, it's very important that a vendor identify themselves as such. Under no circumstances should a vendor try to pass themselves off as a simple user of their own product (even if they are, as is the case with me and Implementer).

I'm very pleased that the majority of the vendors that participate in these lists are quite honorable and abide by the guidelines fully. Although I have no firm evidence, I suspect that such behavior has garnered a few sales for the vendors that participate.
