If the ISO is already on the IFS (per instructions below) then specify *FROMFILE instead of *GEN on ADDIMGCLGE or it will create a second ISO (unneeded) and take muuuuuuccccccchhhhhh longer.

You have already received some good information on this.

The steps are:

1. Create .iso image of CD
2. Transfer to IFS
3. ADDIMGCLGE

http://faq.midrange.com/data/cache/575.html

(1) If you downloaded the images using the FTP commands sent to you when you ordered your PTF's (online) you will use the following command for each .bin (binary) file in the folder. It will register the existing bin file to the image catalog. This will save space by using only one copy of the image (the TOFILE(*FROMFILE) parameter will do this IF the folder referenced in the FROMFILE is the same folder as identified in the DIR parameter in the CRTIMGCLG command) : ADDIMGCLGE IMGCLG(PTFCATALOG) FROMFILE('/fixes/TheFtp.binFileNameHere') TOFILE(*FROMFILE) REPLACE(*INSERT)

I've found, since I put the image file in the image catalog directory, that I do not have to specify the path in the FROMFILE paramater.

Also for FTP transfer, see http://faq.midrange.com/data/cache/67.html

Perhaps just brain dead late on a Friday but........

I recall (and I think I've done this before but the steps escape me)
that you could copy the CD's from a PC to the IFS and then use that to
ADDIMGCLGE. I've searched the IBM site but can't find the steps to copy
the CD to the IFS. Lots of hits on downloading BIN files but nothing
about transferring media.

It'll save me many trips back and forth to the computer room. I have a
cume and many groups.

Can someone point me to the appropriate link? Thanks.
