It seems to me that before purchasing any product, somewhere along the line, every buyer should always ask the question, how easy is it to execute an exit strategy from this product?

Of course it's against the makers' interests, in a way, but at least the more this question is put, the more it can become a selling point.

And eventually, some vendor might even pick up on it (one can hope and dream anyway), and brag about how their stuff is so good they make it easy to exit...
