Hi Adam,
The VGL programmer's reference for the P5000 class of printer is available for download from the Printronix web site (http://www.printronix.com). It includes examples of the text needed to activate the resident bar code functionality in a Printronix matrix printer. Where the P4280 is a retired model, I don't know whether it supports building the UPSSHIP bar code or not.
Best Regards,
/Paul

subject: Printing a Bar code on Printronix 4280

HI I am trying to print a barcode field from an AS/400 RPG program to a
Printronix P4280 printer. We use the E-Twinax as the Controller. If there
is anyone here who has done this successfully, I would be very interested
in hearing what steps are needed to accomplish this.

I believe that I need to use the Printronix language VGL to send codes to
it, that will tell it that  a bar code field exists. THe application is
for UPS shipping. By hav ing a bar code field on the printout the operator
can then scan this and get associated information to populate the screen.

Any help would be so appreicated,
