Hi,
If you have an IPDS enabled Printronix printer, you can use the BARCODE DDS keyword.
If you have a non-IPDS enabled Printronix printer, they offer a special feature of their printer language known as IGP to tell the printer to create a bar code from intelligence resident at the printer. This means you code some special IGP command text into your RPG program, to condition certain variables or static data, and the Printronix printer will then interpret the text to mean that you asked it to print a bar code. When following this method of programming you will have linked your RPG code directly to certain printing hardware.
That is one of the nice things about using AFP, it is printer hardware independent.
