You are correct, there is a type somewhere.

The 570 and higher class machines do require a HMC now with Power 6,
but I would be 99% of them already had one.

I love the HMC. Is it a little pricey yes, but it can save money
based upon remote access, as well as the ability to apply PTFs to the FSP
without having to IPL the ENTIRE machine. If the machine (FSP) is OS
Managed then you have to apply PTFs disruptively. That alone should be a
reason to get one.
