I would start checking everything in the profile exists and is allocatable,
such as job description, msg queue, ... home directory, etc
Also (and not sure if this works) - see if you can CHGJOB
the QZOSIGNON job and change logging to *LIST.
Then try again.
The Log Output is *PND, and you can then see with WRKJOBLOG.
I'm still uncomfortable with pending job logs but hopefully will show whats going on.

Nothing there either. Checked QHST and the last instance for this user
completed normally. No exit program running..

Look for a job log for the QZOSIGNON job. (Many systems send logs to outq
qezjoblog)
Look in QHST for messages.
Do you have exit programs running for telnet running?

I can't change anything in the profile, the message says it says it cannot
allocate the user profile

Maybe the user profile exceeded its maximum storage allowed. If it
isn't *NOMAX try increasing it by a few meg.

Subject: User profile problem

I am having trouble with a user profile that has worked for a long time
with no system or security changes. The user enters their user id and
password and then hangs up and the system comes back with a message to
do a wrkactjob and look for QZOSIGNON under QSYSWRK and end it. That
doesn't exist. I went into the user profile to see if it disabled, but
it was not so I tried just typing over the status (for the heck of it),
it too hangs and comes back with a message that says it cannot allocate
that user profile thereby not letting me change anything. Any help would
be appreciated
